The Re-Birth in a single day of the nation of Israel on May 14th, 1948, is the greatest fulfillment of Bible prophecy in modern history! And portents the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ to Earth to establish His Kingdom & the Kingdom of Israel over all the earth!

The Re-Birth of Israel as a nation was foretold by Isaiah the prophet some 2,700 years ago!

Isaiah 11:11-13 (NKJV)
¹¹It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
¹²He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth.
¹³Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, And the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, And Judah shall not harass Ephraim.

In Isaiah chapter 66, the prophet foretells that the re-birth of Israel/Zion will occur in a single day!

⁷“Before she goes into labor, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son. ⁸Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.     

In the 1800’s, a movement arose among the Jewish people’s scattered throughout the nations called the Zionist Movement which, inspired by the above passage, yearned for the reestablishment of the Jewish Homeland and called for Jews to begin to return to their ancient Homeland.

As a result of World War I, Great Britain gained control over the ancient Land of Israel, which was then known as Palestine. Leaders of the Zionist Movement in London, England, sought for the British government to reestablish the Land of Palestine as the official Homeland of the Jewish people. Though the Zionist did not achieve granting of official Statehood at that time, they did secure the Balfour Declaration, an official declaration of policy of the British government. The declaration was made in a letter, dated November 2, 1917, from Great Britain’s Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour to Baron Rothschild, a leader in the British Jewish community, for transmission to the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland, which stated:

“His Majesty’s government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object.”

Following World War I, all the Allied Powers represented by the League of Nations ratified the Balfour Declaration in a document titled, “British Mandate for Palestine,” in 1922, to go into effect in 1923, for a period of 25-years. The preamble of the mandate declared:

“Whereas the Principal Allied Powers have also agreed that the Mandatory should be responsible for putting into effect the declaration originally made on November 2nd, 1917, by the Government of His Britannic Majesty, and adopted by the said Powers, in favour of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.”

The formal objective of the League of Nations Mandate was to provide a Homeland for the Jewish people…“until such time as they are able to stand alone.”

The British Mandate for Palestine Expired at 1-minute past Midnight, May 15, 1948; therefore on May 14, 1948, Israel declared its Independence and in 1-day the nation was born!

Within hours of Israel’s declaration of independence, Israel was attacked from the North, East & South by the surrounding Muslim countries of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

The prophet Ezekiel also prophesied the Re-Birth of Israel in Ezekiel Chapters 36—37. Grab your Bible and read these 2 chapters. As you read, remember that the nation of Israel had been divided into 2 separate Kingdoms about 400 years prior to Ezekiel’s prophecy which states that the two kingdoms will one day be reunited. This 2,900-year division of Israel into the Northern 10-Tribes and the two Southern Tribes of Judah & Benjamin, was healed on May 14, 1948, and continues to this day as Jewish people from all 12 Tribes return to their ancient Homeland of Israel by the thousands, tens-of-thousands every year!
